Mr W. and me are a father & son team that started our production company about
a year and a half ago. We have several things that are about to hit, as we move into
our next phase. We wanted to roll out a podcast and newsletter to give our
audience a means to hear where we are headed and what we are experiencing. The
newsletter [The Sprinkler] is going to be fun, informative and value add to our
audience! We want to remind our audience that we leave politics at the door. We
want our energy to be positive and wellness based. Humor is in our DNA, along
with creativity and a thirst for good film, music and food. We have a foundation in
the horror genre, with other genres in our repertoire as well. We hope you will join
us monthly as we explore different ways to enrich our lives and have some fun with
exploring the human race.
We bring old school and contemporary to the table. Our topics that we explore on
our podcast will be front and center here as well. We will add practical value add
life skills to the newsletter to make it worth everyone’s while!
Mr W. & I are authentic & lucid and we operate with the credos of “do unto
others” as well as “be cool to one another”.
We want to connect with people, and be present while we enjoy this journey. We
have embarked on something that is moving in a direction that affords us to display
our creativity and love for film & music and more.
We have a very contrasting way in which we were brought into this world and our
perspectives meld in a way that is entertaining, rewarding and beneficial to those
that can trust sage advice.
Come with us as we explore ways to live in the moment and appreciate all we have
rather than what we have not.
Our first two chapters of The Sprinkler will be introductory and starting with the
third chapter The Sprinkler will move to a subscription-based newsletter. We are
talking less than $10 per month for a 13-month subscription. The banner below
speaks to what the content will be in each chapter of our newsletter. We are
confident if our subscribers follow our wellness & practical life skills, they will save
hundreds to thousands annually!
Welcome one and all!

Film
We will review new as well as classic features. The main impetus behind our Psycho
Studios podcast and our newsletter is our TV/film production company. We are
passionate about film [& some TV]! We will always score our films on a scale of 1-
10 – 10 being amazing. [Oppenheimer is a 9.5]. We don’t always agree, but for the
most part we are aligned with the film experience. Mr. Z has a broad scope of
movies and genres and I am more centered around horror – drama and action.
We both love pure acting pieces. Think Chinatown – Blood Simple – The
Lighthouse – Even movies like Infiniti Pool and Oppenheimer are more acting than
anything.
We will give recommendations for obscure B horror and drama films. We will give
a shout out to classic features from the Universal Studios early era up to current
horror gems. Here are a few films we recommend as well as features we will review
in the coming episodes of our podcast and newsletter. We will share our thoughts in
this newsletter on the following, and many more to come;
Frankenstein [1931]
Rear Window [1954]
Psycho [1960]
Rosemary’s Baby [1968]
Texas Chainsaw Massacre [1974]
The Thing [1982]
Scream [1996]
American Psycho [2000]
The Dark Knight Rises [2012]
Barbarian [2022]
Oppenheimer [2023]
We have been busy writing and have a number of treatment outlines that we are
going to push to the studios and are confident we will see those ideas come to
fruition. We are also writing an original script that we are working towards a goal of
a year from now producing. The movies we are writing have smart and common-
sense dialogue with great stories and every day characters being put into
horrifically challenging circumstances! Quality films don’t have to cost more.
In the immortal words of Norman Bates; “We all go a little mad sometimes.”
Music
Mr. Z and I simply love music. Period. What would life be without music? Tragic!
This area of our life’s centers around rock n roll. This is from the 1960s to present.
I have a limited scope [sound familiar] and prefer rock n roll from any decade. Mr.
W has much broader tastes in this area too. He digs rock n roll, and also has a very
eclectic range and includes music from many genres including pop, rap and
contemporary. We will review albums from past and present. We have seen the age
of rock n roll dwindle over the last couple of decades. We think of the Lester Bangs
character in Almost Famous speaking to rock n roll’s last gasp. That was from the
1970s! Thankfully artists like The Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and
Avenged Sevenfold [AV7X] have released new music this year of 2023!
We will lean on music from The Doors – Led Zeppelin – Ratt – Tesla – NIN –
Korn – Linkin Park – Tool – Oliver Tree – Mac Miller and so much more.
Music makes our lives buzz in the positive. We thrive with music, representing our
past and moving us into the future. We have incredible playlists that run the gambit
with what we call Sunday classics [1960s-1970s] to more modern choices that
reflect times traveling to certain parts of the country. We love a lot of the
mainstream rock n roll as well as the lesser known or celebrated groups like
Kingdom Come to Red Vox. We look forward to sharing thoughts and feelings
about the music that moves us! We will share playlists in this space too!
Autos
We are automobile and 4 x 4 enthusiasts. We will talk about the love of the
American V8 mated to a manual transmission to the fundamental brilliance of a
Jeep 4x4! We will review maintenance tips and detail simple repairs and upkeep
you can do on your own to save money and feel accomplished. We will go over
ways to save on auto insurance and what add-ons are value add and which ones to
forget about. We will share tips and tricks about appearance enhancements and day
to day ways to keep your ride sharp and protected! We will delve into finding a
trustworthy mechanic, preparing a vehicle for private sale [aiding in a quick sale
and top dollar] along with purchasing an auto from a private seller. We have
decades of practical experience with “the car” and look forward to helping our
audience enjoy their vehicles more and saving thousands of dollars in the process!
We love the classics like the 1958 Plymouth Fury in the movie Christine to the
more modern Jeeps and Mustangs. Mr. W has a penchant for Jeeps, old school
Cherokees and Wranglers of any year. I love a sweet Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4
with a V8 and any muscle car!
In the immortal lyrics from Van Halen, “Ease the seat back…” Jump into the
driver’s seat with us, engage that clutch and fire up those eight cylinders, rumbling
to life and getting our adrenaline pumping!
Some Sports
We hit this category just like it states, in a limited scope. We love the NFL, and
consider American Football to be the greatest team sport bar none! We will keep
our scope mainly on the Green Bay Packers. Mr. W is a native to the desert, but I
was born and raised in the great state of Wisconsin. Mr. W and I have been
watching the Packer games together religiously over the last few seasons and it is an
experience we recommend to any father – son/daughter pairing that enjoy football.
The highs and lows of following a team and living and dying [figuratively] by their
Sunday outcome is a uniquely shared experience. We will touch on major headlines
from the sport of football and dabble with the NBA and MLB. I follow the Bucks
and have an eye on the Brewers as the excruciatingly long baseball season moves
out of the Boys of Summer [Shout out to Don Henley] and into Fall and playoff
baseball. As I pen this virgin chapter of The Sprinkler the NFL is about to embark
on it’s 103 rd season! We are sharing our prediction for the Green Bay Packers first
season in thirty years without Favre or Rodgers behind center. I see the Packers
[with an easy schedule] and a talented but very young roster coming in at 10-7 and
making the playoffs with first year starter Jordan Love. Mr.W has a different take,
and feels like the 1967 Beatles song “All You Need is Love” doesn’t quite fit for
Green Bay. He sees the Packers coming in at 7-10 and missing the playoffs. We are
compelled to keep an eye on the Jets this season too, given the fact one Aaron
Charles Rodgers will be leading the charge!
We will kick the pigskin, and spin the basketball once monthly and even throw a
fast ball here and there.
The NFL continues to track as the most popular American team sport with their
lackluster preseason games often having much higher ratings – viewership than that
of regular season MLB games! The NFL is a machine, and yes, it is big business run
by the ultra-rich with players that earn a substantial living. We compartmentalize
the money aspect and simply enjoy the “game”. We refrain from the pregame
shows – the post-game shows and all the shows in between the games. For us, it’s all
about the game baby!. Let’s play ball!
NFL Regular Season Kick off – 9.7 – Lions @ Chiefs
9.10 – 14 games including Packers @ Bears [207 th meeting]
9.11 – Wrapping up week one – Bills @ Jets [Rodgers under center for Jets]
Wellness
Wellness, what is it? We hear it bandied about a lot, especially since the pandemic
that hit in 2020. We hear about it in the news, at work, from family members and
health professionals. Boiled down, it’s about taking care of ourselves. It’s about
being good to ourselves. It’s about being kind to ourselves.
There are so many methods for improving and enhancing our wellness. Some of
those recommend seeking professional assistance. Some speak to medications.
Some alert us to self-improvements that can aid in improving our wellness.
First and foremost, we want to let our audience know we are not healthcare
professionals. Regardless of our lack of medical expertise we will explore and share
day to day elements that can help our audience live better and reduce the stress of
everyday life in this century. We want our audience to know we care about them as
individuals. We know everyone has their own story. Their own struggles. We ask
everyone to “be cool to one another”. There are mental and physical ways to
improve our wellness out of the scope of medical and therapy visits. We want to
emphasize, if you or someone you care about is feeling depressed or worse – please
seek professional help. Nothing, and we repeat nothing is worth harming ourselves.
The human body and psyche are fragile and resilient all at once. Life is bittersweet
and we will bring an interesting perspective from a young Gen Y [Millennial] and
an older Gen Xer. The fascinating thing to me is that as an older Gen Xer I feel I
have adapted to many of the modern changes when it comes to wellness. Mr. Z is in
tune with wellness and was so well before it became en vogue. Mr. Z eats very
healthy, exercises regularly and is cognizant in over indulging in extracurricular
activities [partying]. For me, I eat decent, we both stay away from fast food for the
most part. I exercise lightly and walk consistently multiple days a week. There are a
few day-to-day elements we either practice or are working on incorporating into
our day to day. Living in the moment, practicing gratitude and simple breathing
exercises can truly contribute to our wellness and they take very little effort to have
a positive impact. Finally, journaling is super beneficial. When a lot of us hear
“journaling” it can conjure many off putting images. Keep it simple!
We will share specifics on these areas, share links to some great short videos that
can help everyone feel better. Be kinder to ourselves. This will also help our
relationships as we are in a better headspace and help those around us as we share
the impact those in our lives have on us.
Be cool to one another!
Commentary
This is an area I hope our audience really gives some thought to. It can be a
challenge in today’s world to avoid politics which inherently lends itself to
commenting on things in that realm. We are drawing a hard line in the proverbial
sand, and will leave the politics at the gate. [Door?]
We understand that our audience isn’t going to agree with all of our viewpoints or
suggested best practices. We wouldn’t want that and we are far tastier than vanilla
anything! We ask all of you to reach out to us by emailing us directly. We will
respond to all emails.
This commentary piece is going to be on the light side as this is our inaugural
chapter.
I will say this links nicely to the wellness piece. Mr. Z and I have been living the
credo “be cool to each other” for quite some time. We stepped this element up once
the pandemic hit in March of 2020 and have not looked back.
This short phrase has a lot of breath to it and encompasses so much. The bottom
line? Let’s be patient wherever we are, wherever we go. Whether we are driving on
the roadway, waiting in line at a merchant, eating – drinking at an establishment or
talking – emailing – chatting with a service provider – please be patient. We realize
that everyone is busy, everyone is hustling, everyone has somewhere to go,
something to do. If we can all display understanding towards everyone we come in
contact with; [they all have their own story, their own challenges] and exude
patience consistently, our day to day lives as well as our communities will be better
for it!
Take a deep breath, treat everyone as you wish to be treated and taking the biblical
concept of “do unto others” seriously. Every day, every week.
We respect all ages, races and demographics. We look forward to future
commentary, some light hearted such as how the Green Bay Packers are doing to
deeper subjects such as quantum physics.
The Beatles were iconic for more than just their look and sound. Their lyrics rang a
loud about being good to one another. “Love is all you need”!
Headlines
With this category, we will lean into the unusual and spectacular. Refraining from
politics as well as global catastrophes and climate related disasters. The Sprinkler
won’t be virgin white nor will it deliver only positive and upbeat stories; we will be
aware of the doom and gloom that presents itself almost daily as Americans scroll
through social media, watch the negative YouTube videos and view daily news
programs. We suggest everyone put their devices down from time to time and not
get caught in a negative trap.
Right out of the gate how about the fact Liam Neeson is in another action movie?
Retribution hit the theatres at the end of August and can you believe it is basically
another Taken script? The synopsis sounds like a mash up of Taken meets Speed
with a dash of The Transporter. I promise you Mr. Z and I won’t be “taken” at the
box office with this one!
The infamous Frye Festival that was beyond a fiasco; founder relaunches part II!
Straight out of prison, Billy McFarland licking his wounds from his fraud conviction
for the despicable Frye Festival part I is at it again! The buzz is the incredibly
overpriced show sold out in short order. Very few details are available regarding the
acts, location or date! It is amazing how gullible people can be!
In outer space news, Russia launches its first lunar mission in decades. The third
week of August saw the Russians trying to revisit the success of Sputnik [1957].
The Luna 25 spacecraft slammed into the surface of the moon ending its mission
almost as quickly as it began. We won’t be seeing the Russians on the dark side of
the Moon anytime soon!
Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant discharges more than a million tons of treated
water into the Pacific Ocean! The operator of the plant [Tepco] says seawater
samples taken around the facility are safe! The nuclear power plant was severely
damaged in 2011 after it was hit by a devastating tsunami caused by an earthquake.
We are hopeful we won’t see any three-eyed fish anytime soon!
August 22 nd finds the Phoenix Fire Department rescuing a golf course worker after
being stung by bees 2000 times! The Phoenix FD used foam to subdue the bees and
the maintenance worker was recovering at a local hospital. Two things, how does
this ever happen? Have you ever seen a bee hive? Stay away! The buzz about this
story that fascinates me? Who the hell takes the time to count all those bee stings?
We will end this sampling of headlines from the Summer of ’23 with a gross story
and a story that makes me wish I was at a watering hole in Milwaukee Wisconsin!
Mr. Z [And I will have to admit me too] enjoys a Kellogg’s cereal straw from time
to time when available. Oscar Meyer just announced the release of hot dog straws. I
will refrain from technicolor yawning as it turns out the hot dog straws are made of
silicone and are reusable. If Oscar Meyer had any balls, they would have made the
hot dog straws out of real hot dogs!
Jack’s American Pub [weak name] in Milwaukee’s lower East Side is kicking off the
NFL season with a unique offer related to the Packer’s former signal caller; A-Rod.
The bar is offering free booze every time Rodgers and the Jets lose a game this
season. There are parameters, reach out to the watering hole for more details.
I’m not sure which one of those stories is more gross!
Practical Life Skills
summer time when we don’t want to “heat” the kitchen. Remember to clean your
skillet when cool, and yes you can use dish soap. Once the skillet is cool and clean
don’t forget to season it; adding a good low smoke oil and heating that liquid for a
short time to create a nice glaze. We will have more on the skillet as we move
forward with The Sprinkler.
Thank you for taking the time to read the first chapter of Psycho Studios The
Sprinkler. We look forward to sharing great stories, ideas and suggestions along
with humor and insight!
Be safe and stay psycho!
